Inquiry FormWhat is Sport Psychology?
Individual sport psychology sessions help athletes build mental skills to perform at their best. Through one-on-one support, athletes learn to manage performance anxiety, improve focus, boost confidence, and develop resilience. Each session is personalized to address the athlete's unique goals—both in sports and in life.
Who Can Benefit from Sport Psychology?
Dr. Labuschagne is currently accepting clients ages 12 years through adulthood. Athletes can benefit from sport psychology. Whether they are facing performance anxiety, struggling with confidence, recovering from an injury, or working through mental blocks, individualized support helps athletes strengthen their mindset and regain control. Sport psychology also supports emotional regulation, focus, and resilience—both in and out of competition.
Research shows that building mental skills early enhances long-term performance, motivation, and overall well-being. For injured athletes, mental performance can play a vital role in the recovery process, helping them cope with setbacks and stay mentally engaged during their return to play.

Supporting the Whole Athlete
Sport psychology looks beyond physical performance to understand the full picture of an athlete's mental and emotional well-being. Challenges that impact performance may include:
- • Performance anxiety or fear of failure
- • Low confidence or self-doubt
- • Difficulty with focus or motivation
- • Recovery from injury or burnout
- • Pressure from competition or expectations
- • Perfectionism and fear of letting others down
- • Mood changes related to sport participation
The goal is to help athletes recognize and manage mental barriers while also identifying their unique strengths, values, and motivations. Dr. Labuschagne provides tailored strategies to support emotional resilience, improve performance, and promote long-term growth.
