Dr. Zandré Labuschagne, PhD
Professional Background
Dr. Labuschagne is a licensed counseling psychologist in the state of Tennessee with a Health Service Provider designation. She specializes in conducting comprehensive psychoeducational evaluations for children and adults, and she enjoys collaborating with parents and clients to help them identify their strengths and better understand their areas for growth so they can reach their full potential. Dr. Labuschagne earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a joint Master of Arts and Ph.D. in counseling psychology with a subspecialty in sport psychology from the University of Missouri. During her graduate training, she provided psychological services (e.g., assessment, therapy, and sport psychology) to children and adults at the University Counseling Center, the Thompson Center for Autism and Neurodevelopment, and the University of Missouri Athletic Department.
Dr. Labuschagne completed an American Psychological Association-accredited internship at Vanderbilt University Psychological and Counseling Center where she was trained in evidence-based assessment and therapy of young adults. During her training as an intern, she provided sport psychology to Division 1 athletes at Vanderbilt University. She also completed a rotation in Pain Psychology at Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Medical Center in Murfreesboro, where she received evidence-based training in assessment and treatment of chronic pain. Dr. Labuschagne completed her postdoctoral training at The Diagnostic Center at Currey Ingram Academy where she trained in evidence-based assessment of children and adults. Over the last few years, Dr. Labuschagne has worked at several practices across the larger Nashville area providing psychoeducational evaluations before opening her own private practice.
Personal Background
Dr. Labuschagne was born and raised in South Africa. She moved to the United States at the age of 19 to pursue Division I collegiate gymnastics at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Prior to her collegiate career, she represented South Africa in artistic gymnastics at the 2004 summer Olympic Games in Athens, Greece. She also participated in several World and African Championships prior to the Olympics. When not working, Dr. Labuschagne enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, being outdoors, and enjoying creative endeavors.
